Primus Vita is a mazescen-tary science fiction adventure game developed by Nomad Interactive. It is set in a future where Earth has suffered from a devastating nuclear war, leaving the planet in ruins. The Human race has retreated into cities, leaving the wasteland to either fatal ends or to the mutated abominations. In this experimental city, there is only one rule: never leave the protected walls. There are no clocks, no human beings and no meaningful time… It’s a dying system out of control, where robots and mutants are running free, cannibalizing their own kind for sustenance. As a scientist of the Bureau of this experimental city, it is your job to find out exactly what happened to mankind and if it can be brought back to life. - Edition 2: The Great Escape
The first edition of this series looked at the Cultivation mechanic. After a fairly successful year with Water 101, we came up with Cultivation for Adventure Season 2 and got to see it in action. Well, if you missed Cultivation in action, it’s time to explore it once again. This time we’re looking at the Great Escape mechanic set off. So, how does it work? Let’s take a look!
The Great Escape and A Better Game
The Great Escape looks at the Cultivation mechanic and Game Flow Breakdown mechanic as a catch all mechanism. From a base crawl space set up, to shooting lasers at beetles, it is all in the way you look at it. Now, remember, this is both for Adventure Season 2 and for upcoming Cultivation Adventures, there is no difference in function. After all, Cultivation has been placed on our ever growing table of rules to use in combination with the rules of the main game. In season 2, we have the second half rule to help spread the Cultivation mechanic into more of the world. As with the Pulp Adventures sector, Pulps have the option to get a one-time rule adoption for the season with the Great Escape.
One example of a Great Escape would be to take one of our existing mechanics, in this case Pulp Adventures has the catch and shoot mechanic. Now in Great Escape, when a character makes a move to enter a crawl space, roll on this table to see if they can give the mechanic a try! The rate of success in this technique, based on the average move to enter a crawl space is 5%. Now, if the mechanic works, great, bonus points, if not, you get a killer on!
This mechanic, on top of also offering it as a base crawl space mechanic, makes it even more of a viable mechanic to take. Anyone using this rule will be able to daggon point their clever hands! Note: This works off of the 5 dice roll on the base mechanics.
An example of one of the games using this mechanic already is Clue. This delightful game, Pulp Adventure’s own award winning detective thriller, uses the Great Escape mechanic and a crawl space tag as it’s mechanic. That means it is asking that you try to see if you can use this to your advantage. Success is the result of doing it, unlike Pulp Adventures’ campaign mechanic where success is simply when the campaign can be completed.

They can still give the feeling of a restaurant menu, but I don’t always have a lot of time to set up a whole new menu and there’s a lot of improvisation in my cooking. Besides the book is more than 60 years old, so I always want to push it farther. I think of each new dish as a continuation. Right now, a lot of people are asking me about dim sum.
