[X] is a 2D Action Adventure game about a free spirited, aspiring musician traveling through a retro-futuristic world. To save the day you just need to save yourself, and your journey has been cut out for you, as you must jump, float, climb, glide, slide, and even make some noise with the bass. As you travel through the world you will find yourself doing a lot of silly things; like jumping on the ground, swimming in an air bubble, and floating like a princess. When we first develop a game we imagine it as a series of memorable moments. We know if we can just somehow make these moments memorable then we can help players build a more lasting bond with the game and the characters. This is how we came to the idea of transforming the game into a soundtrack album: working out the most memorable sequences and moments from the game, then building an album out of these memorable moments, and ultimately trying to make it feel like you are listening to the game. The soundtrack album represents the best bits of the game, where there were real moments that stood out to us. Being able to mix and remix these moments we felt was the perfect way to bring the game and the story to life. There are 21 tracks on the album, covering every place from Paris to Hong Kong. It’s quite a journey from the past to the present. We have tried our best to capture as much of the original sound as possible, using 50mm Neumann Mics for all of the Foley work. We believe in our work and we think that other titles would benefit from our ideas. Developing a soundtrack album for a game is a team effort. It’s a real team effort making the music, and also helping the director find his own «voice» within the music. It’s really a labor of love for the team, and we’re hoping you enjoy this soundtrack. Introduction to the game
- You can be a wizard, a witch, a magus, a mage, a ghost, a necromancer, and a zombie. (Dunno what the hell a werewolf is, but of course, we’ll leave that to the in-game guide…the guide will know best)

- Ground (typically a giant wooded landscape with wild animals, but there are a few other places you can go)
- River (hierically shaped land with different types of terrain)
- Space (usually a some form of space suit that lets you walk around in the sky, but there are others too)
- Key Features:
- Pick a type of spell (that best fits your playing style) to cast.
- Shadows grow as you go, as the shadows have an attraction power like your spells.
- Evolve a living creature (only when it’s 1/10ths closest to creating a clone)
- That living creature (is a spell casting creature)
- Spell Name (only when you kill it)
- Rank (which grade is yours in the well being of the inhabitants of your area)
- Summoned creatures can become towns by request, but they’ll kill themselves if you don’t let them!
- Paradinoma!
- Early in the game, there is an Arcane Caverns. It is where you can scavange stuff like food, power ups, and the key (which will let you unlock any building after you open it. It’s the key to longevity.)

I hope everyone had a peaceful and restful Christmas. Mine was very stressful, but also enjoyable for once. I spent the holiday with family, including a Beloved Ancient (Dad), and my Lovely Cats (Tiger and Remus), who are completely ruins in the picture department. I returned home to a 200+ degree house with 13 degrees of separation and my Hallmark boxing with Silver Greyhound and Foxtrot Mount who gave Beloved Ancient the exact same gift his Birthday brought, a ColorChanging Tentacle Mist—see? my mother has spent zero time on my List Since I Was Eleven (but thank you, Mom!).

I’m not looking forward to finishing Christmas. I’m just looking forward to not having boys in the house making gross out noises and jumping on furniture until at least January 1st. January 1st…is the day I start my new career; and I’m really excited. I checked out my new office last night, and it is a riot! I could never have imagined the titles they assigned me (and I’m not impressed), but they fit.
First, my job title is Magical-Studies-Professor-Art-Scholar-and-Composer. I’m semi-amused by it, and I like the idea that I’ll be ‘scholarly’ even though I’ve mostly never really been to college. I do respect creativity, and I think this job calls for a little creativity on the side of my regular job. I’m in charge of our Medieval Research Fellowship; among other things, I can create medieval-themed adoring-entrancing-overeating-hummingbirds-skull-burn your-card-Send-a-PICTURE one-of-a-kind medieval nails which make your nails sparkle in the sunlight. I’m also working with a video game company that plans to create a new virtual reality game based on a new medieval fable called “The Little House in the Well-Forest.” I can also write and perform music that combines personal meditations with historical themes.
It’s important to me to do all these things. I really like learning about medieval life, and creating something like this is something I would like to do.
